Jim Corbett National Park is famous for being India’s first national park, established in 1936 as Hailey National Park. It is also the place where Project Tiger was first launched in 1973 to protect the endangered Bengal tiger. Among the different zones, the Dhikala Zone is considered the best safari zone in Jim Corbett. It offers the highest chances of spotting tigers along with elephants, deer, wild boars, and numerous bird species. The zone also features beautiful grasslands and riverine forests, making it the most sought-after safari experience.
The park is special because it is home to over 600 species of birds, 50 species of mammals, and 25 species of reptiles, along with a stunning natural habitat of rivers, grasslands, and dense Sal forests. Its distinction as the oldest national park in India, coupled with its role in tiger conservation, makes it both historically and ecologically significant.
Jim Corbett is most famously known for the Royal Bengal Tiger. Spotting this majestic predator is the highlight of most safaris. Apart from tigers, the park is also known for its population of Asian elephants, leopards, gharials, and diverse birdlife.
